Procedure for setting up a training course in Joomla

Note: The field ‘alias’ should (but doesn’t have to) be unique, to make it clear what is being referenced when copying/viewing URLs. This field is used by the SEO engine. For example, if we have an article titled ‘SolidWorks API Fundamentals’ the alias should be ‘solidworks-api-fundamentals’. Then when we create a curriculum for that class called ‘SolidWorks API Fundamentals Curriculum’ then the alias should read ‘solidworks-api-fundamentals-curriculum.

Creating a New Training Course
  • Training Page Link
Create the Training Class Article
Set Link To Class on Training Page - http://<domain>/training-courses/<articleId>.html?class-name=<class name>
  • Prerequisite Link
Go to Training Page and right-click on desired class then select ‘copy link location’
Use the copied URL as link for the Prerequisite class (assuming the training page link was created correctly)
  • Curriculum Link
http://<domain>/<articleId>-<article-alias>.html if desired, append ?class-name=<class name> to realize filtering on the upcoming classes left menu
