Purpose
Redesign existing website and put under CMS control
Description
Symmetry Solution's website is undergoing a redesign, including putting it under a Content Management System (CMS) application. Today's websites offer Web 2.0 features that are managed best from a framework. The framework chosen is joomla. CMS applications allow editors/authors to create/edit content on a live site and view that content before publishing to the live site.
Tools
- Using phpMyAdmin we can export any database to a file of sql statements, version that file, and then update another site's database with it.
- Mysqldump allows one to take a snapshot of a database. Since we have ssh shell + cronjobs at hostgator, we are using mysqldump.
- Bug tracking project management is being provided by EdgeWall's web-based project management software called Trac. Alchemy Software's site, is hosted here.
